Balmain Ready To Wear AW14-15

“If Olivier Rousteing has his way, next season we’ll be marching to the beat of Balmain’s regimental drum.” – Vogue Magazine

Balmain is a designer brand I’ve only discovered within the last six months, but I have fallen completely in love with their styling, clothing and everything they stand for. The detailing on some of Balmain’s pieces is beyond comparison to any other label - it shows the great thought they put into their collections and how much work goes into creating such beautiful clothing.

Being Balmain, it wasn’t about practicality; it was a collection of explosive designs that were focused on strength and sensuality. A safari chic, hip-hop mash up of black, khaki, leopard print, sexy pleated skirts and tight little waists which were the main focus of their ready to wear collection. Additionally, Balmain never fails to provide a strong structure to their clothing, bringing fortitude and power. Rihanna showed up at the event, dressed in a head-to-toe look from the collection, displaying just what it takes to pull off one of these designs.

Creative director, Oliver Rousteing has created a whole new epidemic: “The Balmain Army” something which links directly back to the clothing and all that the brand has to offer. Rousteing has recruited the likes of Rosie, Joan, Jourdan, Karlie, Edie and Malaika – “a formidable force to be reckoned with.”

It wasn’t just tight sensual designs that caught my eye as there were more loose fitting ensembles that showed just as much character. Overall I love the new ready-to-wear collection from Balmain, and I can’t wait for their next collection, which I bet will have fans of the label standing to attention.

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner. This is a name that over the last year has grown to be one of the biggest names in fashion and modelling. Not only has this nineteen year old modelled for some of the world’s leading brands at some of the most well-known fashion shows – but she has recently been signed as the new face of Estée Lauder. I find Kendall to be a breath of fresh air in the fashion world as she’s made her own way to the top, and not using her family name as a way to gain success.
Kendall is the epitome of beauty. Her shoots always seem to impress me, her charm and flawless looks always come across from the camera, and I’m always left wanting more. Kendall has modelled for Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Chanel as well as the likes of Diane von Fürstenberg; it’s fair to say that Miss Jenner has taken the fashion industry “by storm!”
I find Kendall to be such an inspiring role model, she’s full of grace and beauty and sends the message to work hard for your dreams. She’s found success on her own at such a young age which is something to appreciate, and I aspire to be as hard working and dedicated as she is, in my own work.

As I stated before, Kendall has been signed as the new face of Estée Lauder – a major breakthrough for any model. The photos from her new campaign are sophisticated and show how grown up this nineteen year old really is. I believe that Kendall has even more surprises for us in the near future, and honestly, I can’t wait to see what they’re going to be.

Hermès Ready To Wear SS15 Collection

After three years as the womenswear designer at Hermès, Christophe Lemaire’s final collection for the company was shown on the last day of Paris Fashion Week. “Plainly extravagant—or extravagantly plain,” a quote I find fairly fitting for this collection. I couldn't help but notice there was an almost African influence, relating to the cut and colours of the pieces. The scarf drape seemed almost tribal and the accent colours of sand and saffron definitely showed some influences from far afield.
Hermès is known for taking us to faraway places in their pieces and for the last collection for the company, Lemaire certainly did not disappoint.
This ready to wear collection caught my eye as I was drawn to the different textures and materials each individual piece held. Layering seemed to be one of the focuses at the Hermès show this year as almost every outfit was dressed by layering different pieces together.
